Shri Vithal Temple also known as Shri Pandurang Mandir is located at Vithalwadi, Sanquelim. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vithal an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It was built by the Rane families who migrated from Udaipur about 600 years ago to Sanquelim and had played a key role in Goa's freedom struggle.
The temple is built on the banks of the Valvanta River. It was reconstructed in 1942 incorporating North India style of temple architecture though sanctum-sanctorum was left unaltered. The idols are very beautiful and the temple from inside is quite spacious with lot of beautiful designs. The main attraction of Shri Vitthal Temple is an exquisitely carved wooden chariot which symbolizes the chariot of Arjuna of Mahabharata driven by Lord Krishna.
The main festival is Chaitri. The main festival dedicated to Lord Vithal is usually held for 9 days during the Ashadi Ekadashi and Kartik Ekadashi, which draws thousands of devotees from all across the country.
