Our Lady of Grace Church is also known as Nossa Senhora da Grace. This church was established in the year 1959. Earlier it is a military chapel. It is situated in the heart of Margao city. Our Lady of Grace Church was formerly known as the Capela de Batalhao. This former military chapel has a hospital that has been named after the church.
This church is a splendid piece of classic Italian style architecture. This church represents the first breath of the Renaissance in provincial Portuguese architecture. Note the massive figures on columns at either side of the portal. According to local legend these four figures represent the first victims put to death in the Inquisition in Evora in 1543.
It is a small church compare to the other churches of Goa. This is a very peaceful place. This church is visited especially on the feast day that is celebrated on the 1st Sunday of February. The Church hosts 8000+ parishioners.
