At a distance of 42 km from Panjim Kadamba Bus Stand and 37 km from Vasco Da Gama Railway Station and 10 km from Margao Railway Station, Nossa Senhora de Belem Church is situated in South Goa.
The Church of Nossa Senhora de Belem is also known as Our Lady of Bethlehem Church located in the village of Chandor or Chandrapur, the ancient capital of the Bhojas and the Kadambas. The church was built in 1645 replaced the principal Sapta Matrika (Seven Mothers) temple, which was demolished in the previous century. In earlier days it was called Our Lady of Remedies Church till its tower collapsed in 1949 and after rebuilding the tower in 1950 a new name Our Lady of Bethlehem was given.
The frontispiece was reconstructed in Neo-Gothic style, but the nave and sanctuary of the Church retain their Mannerist character. It was blessed in 1950. A piazza Cross of intricate design stands on the Church premises.
The Chandor Parish Church celebrates the Feast of the Three Kings every year on 6th January with much pomp and grandeur. The figures of the three wise men or three kings as they are known are the highlight of this feast celebration.
