At a distance of 10 km from Panjim Kadamba Bus Stand, 35 km from Vasco Da Gama Railway Station and 16 km from Mapusa, Our Lady of Remedies Church is situated in North Goa.
The Church of Our Lady of Remedies is also known as Nossa Senhora dos Remedios Church. It is located at the heart of Nerul Village. Traditionally a fishing community, the Nerul Church is one of the largest in Bardez taluk in Goa.
Nerul has its own parish in the form of the church dedicated to Our Lady of Remedies constructed in 1569, by the Franciscan orders and is truly a marvelous architecture. It was attacked thrice by the Marathas, but they were repelled by the sound of khoznne (gun powder crackers) and the sight of fabricated cannons made of palm trees placed on the porch roof.
The Church with an antique architectural style figures among the last works in Bardez by the Franciscan Order before their expulsion by the Portuguese. This Church is a three storey neo-Roman Style Structure with twin bell towers and pagoda style roofs. It treasures some old paintings on wooden panels on the walls.
The feast of Our Lady of Remedies Church is held every year in November with great pomp and food festivals.
