At a distance of 57 km from Panjim Kadamba Bus Stand, 52 km from Vasco Da Gama Railway Station and 24 km from Margao Railway Station, Our Lady of Miracles Church is situated in South Goa.
The Church of Our Lady of Miracles is situated at Sanguem. It was originally a military chapel built by the Portuguese Government. The first church built in 1763 was situated in Zambaulim. The Sanguem Chapel affiliated to the Parish Church of Zambaulim was blessed in 1853. The Sanguem Chapel was raised to the status of a Parish Church and the Church building was constructed in 1858.
The old Church of our Lady of Miracles was demolished and a new church was built in 1977. The Church is known for its miraculous powers for receiving healing and peace. Every Friday, praise and worship is conducted in the church. The Parish witnesses a lot of harmony between other faiths coming from Hindus and Muslims, who have a strong devotion to Our Lady of Miracles. Our Lady of Miracles is said to answer everyone's prayers who seek blessing wholeheartedly.
Originally the Church feast was celebrated on the 4th Sunday of May. Since 2008 it has been preponed to the 2nd Sunday of May as the 4th Sunday falls on one of the solemnity and no feast of 'Our Lady' can be celebrated on the solemnity. On the feast day they flock to venerate the statue of our Lady with garlands and candles.
