At a distance of 21 km from Panjim Kadamba Bus Stand, 46 km from Vasco Da Gama Railway Station and 8.5 km from Mapusa, Our Lady of The Sea Church is situated in North Goa.
Our Lady of The Sea Church is located in Oxel Village. It is also known as Nossa Senhora do Mar Church in the beginning belonged to Nagoa and then to Siolim Marna rectorate. The Church of Oxel was built in 1661. The Church and the residence of the parish priest were built in 1661. The roof was renewed in 1686 and some years later the whole frontispiece was repaired. The image of Our Lady of The Sea at Oxel is taken from the Chapel of Our Lady of The Sea in the Convent of Santa Monica, Old Goa. The present church building was constructed in 1899.
The feast of Our Lady of The Sea Church is celebrated on 2nd Sunday of May every year. The people of Oxel also celebrate many Christian festivals such as the Sao Joao feast on 24th June then on 29th June the Sangodd.
