At a distance of 7 km from Udaipur Railway Station, Neemach Mata Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located on a hill in the Dewali area of Udaipur. It is one of the famous places to visit as part of the Udaipur pilgrimage packages.
Neemach Mata Temple is dedicated to Goddess Amba, who is also known as Neemach Mata. The temple is believed to be built in the year 1652-1680. It is also believed that Shree Nimcha Mata (also known as Ambaji) is the clan Goddess of the Royal family of the Maharanas. The temple is a revered pilgrimage site for locals and tourists alike.
Located on the banks of the Fateh Sagar Lake, the temple reflects a blend of traditional Rajasthani and Mewari styles of architecture. The main sanctum sanctorum of the temple houses the stone idol of the Goddess which is 56 inch in height and 23 inch in width. There is also an idol of Lord Ganesh and three west-facing lions in the temple. Outside the sanctum is a Hawan Kund for performance of Yojna. Being perched atop the picturesque hills, it offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.O
To reach the temple one has to climb the whopping height of 900 meters and can only reach to the peak by foot. It has both stairs and pavement ways to walk up. Recently, a ropeway was built to transport passengers to the Neemach Mata Temple. The ropeway is situated at the picturesque Fateh Sagar Lake and offers stunning views of Udaipur. It is 500 feet long and has 12 ventilated cabins with automatic doors. It can transport 400 passengers per hour.
