Vetal Tekdi, Pune - Timings, Entry Fee, Best Time to Visit

At a distance of 10 km from Pune Junction, Vetal Hill or Vetal Tekdi is a prominent hill situated in Kothrud area of Pune. It is one of the best places to visit as part of Pune adventure packages.

Vetal Hill, standing at an elevation of 2,600 feet, is the highest point within the boundaries of Pune. The hill derives its name from the Vetala temple, which is situated at its summit. It is among the well-known places to visit in Pune, which is often frequented by fitness enthusiasts who engage in activities such as early morning walks, jogging, trekking, or cycling.

In addition to the well-known Vetal temple, the Chaturshringi temple is also located atop the hill. Visitors must ascend nearly 100 steps to pay their respects to Goddess Chaturshringi and other deities. The Indian Forest Department has established an observation deck at the top of the hill, providing breathtaking views of the entire city of Pune.

The hill is also rich in diverse flora and fauna, featuring small lakes and vibrant bird species. Birdwatchers often visit to observe colorful birds such as robins, francolins, minivets, and bulbuls, among others. An early morning trek to Vetal Hill is highly advisable for those wishing to experience the stunning sunrise.
