At a distance of 35 Km from Kodaikanal, Mannavanur is a serene farming village in the Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu. It is one of the must-include places in Kodaikanal Leisure Packages.

The Mannavanur Lake contributes a sense of serenity to this charming village. Nestled within a sheep farm, the lake offers a stunning vista surrounded by enchanting meadows and distant majestic hills, making it a sight worth capturing. The journey to the lake is equally delightful, with eucalyptus and pine trees lining the road on either side. Visitors may also encounter a flock of sheep grazing in the verdant meadows, alongside birds reveling in their freedom.

This unspoiled freshwater lake, ideally situated at the foothills of the Nilgiris, presents a picturesque setting for trekkers to enjoy a picnic and immerse themselves in nature. The lake supports a diverse range of fish and bird species, making it an excellent destination for bird watching enthusiasts. Additionally, various activities such as coracle rides, horse riding, visits to the sheep farm, and enjoyable picnics with family and friends can be experienced here.

Surrounded by fields cultivating a variety of vegetables, including carrots, cauliflower, cabbage, peas, potatoes, and even broccoli, as well as French and butter beans, the quaint village of Mannavanur features terrace farms carved into the hillside. This location provides nature enthusiasts with an opportunity to engage with farm life, particularly through the observation of rabbits, sheep, and other animals. This is also a stop on many trekking routes in the area.

Tourists must obtain permission from the Forest Department to trek in the forested areas. Nature's Trust has established a base camp known as Camper's Club on a 26-acre (11 ha) site, which is the sole accommodation option in Mannavanur. The camp consists of eight small cottages equipped with basic amenities and organizes educational tours and treks, offering 21 different routes.
