Named after Karna of the Mahabharata, Karnaprayag is one of the Panch Prayag, or five confluences of the Alaknanda River, where it joins the Pindar River, which originates from the glacial Pindari. Located at an average elevation of 1,451 meters, this quaint town holds significant mythological importance, as it is believed to be the site where Karna worshipped the Sun God. Additionally, it is regarded as a center for meditation for Swami Vivekananda and his followers.
