At a distance of 4 km from Yercaud Bus Stand, Peeku Park is a animal park situated on the way to Pagoda Point in Yercuad. It is one of the must-include places in Yercaud tour packages.
Spread over two-acre land, Peeku Park has lot of animals which included mountain goats, rabbits, Guinea pigs and so many varieties of chickens & pigeons. The main attraction is the parrot cage - a huge, closed structure, and is divided into 3 parts. The staffs here are friendly and explain about the birds. They also guide us on how to handle these beautiful birds and feed them.
The first section has rainbow lorikeet birds which specifically eat fruits, so fruit is given to visitors by the staff to feed the birds. The birds come and sit on visitors and feed on the fruits they are hand tamed so nothing to worry about. The next section is for the conures, mostly sun conures. They too sit on visitors to feed on sunflower seeds in our hands. The next section is for the bigger birds like the macaw, cockatoo, and African greys. These birds are a little sensitive and so we have to be a little careful not to touch them. They too come and sit on visitors to feed on the seeds in our hands.
Apart from the parrot cage, there were also a couple of ostriches that one could feed as well as turkeys. No extra cost charged for feeding those animals. It also has a small snack counter where one can have delicious veg and non-veg snacks. The park also has a small play area for the kids. This place can engage adults and kids for quite a long time.
