At a distance of 13 Kms from Mysore Railway Station, Rajendra Villas Palace is situated atop the Chamundi hill. This Palace, like the Lalitha Mahal Palace, was the Princely Palace used for entertaining Royal Guests and their entertainment. When Mysore was merged with the Karnataka State, the Palace became a property of the Karnataka Government and was converted into a Hotel. The Rajendra Vilas Palace Hotel got its name from the Royal Clan identified as Chamarajendra.
The Palace offers a panoramic view of Mysore. It boasts of a cool climate round the year. It is one of the admired Heritage Hotels in Mysore. The palace is one of the best examples of Indo-Saracenic architecture, with a strong Rajput flavor. The central dome of the palace, that resembles Mysore Palace, rests on a high neck and four chhatris built distinctly in Rajasthani style surrounds the central dome.
