At a distance of 16 km from Dehradun Railway Station, Sahastradhara is one of the most popular places of sightseeing in Dehradun. It literally means thousands fold spring.
Sahastradhara is a beautiful waterfall cascading down from a height of 30 feet. It has collection of water pools where water drips from limestone stalactites, turning it to sulphur springs. The water contains medicinal properties and can cure skin ailments. Apart from medicinal springs, Sahastradhara has tranquil environment with rich Himalayan vegetation. The beauty of this spring is further enhanced by the surrounding caves and Baldi River.
A ropeway is provided to reach the hill top in Sahastradhara. From the top one can enjoy the panoramic view of Sahastradhara and surroundings. A water park named Joy Land Water Park is an added attraction to this place. The villages around Sahastradhara are known for step farming. The hills cut in the form of steps are marvelous to watch and is simply a visual delight.
