At a distance of 119 km from Kavaratti, 160 km from Agatti, and 293 km from Kochi, Andretti Island is an inhabited island present in the Lakshadweep archipelago. Located close to the Indian mainland, it is one of the best places to visit in Lakshadweep.
Also known as Andrott Island, Andretti Island is the largest island in the union territory of Lakshadweep with an area of 4.9 sq km. It is the only island of Lakshadweep situated in the east-west direction, whereas the others are located in the north-south direction. Known for having a maximum population, this island is a great combination of urban life along with nature's scenic views. It is the only island having a very small lagoon area of about 6.6 Sq. km. Coconut palms and coir industries are the major attractions of this island.
Andretti Island is mainly known for its charm and beauty and the view of the Island. The beach here gives the best relaxing and comfortable Vibes. Spending the evenings at the seaside is very relaxing and if you are lucky enough, you can spot various aquatic animals including octopuses. It was the first island to embrace Islam. The Saint Ubaidullah, who is believed to have converted the people of the islands to Islam, died here and his remains are entombed in the Jumah mosque. Religious preachers from here are held in high esteem. The island also houses several Buddhist archaeological remains.
Tourists can board the passenger ship from Kochi which will take around 15 to 20 hours to reach Andretti Island. Otherwise, take a flight from Kochi to Agatti followed by a boat transfer from Agatti to Andretti.
