At a distance of 3.5 Kms from Bangalore City Railway Station, Jumma Masjid situated in Nagarathpet is the oldest mosque in the city and is dedicated to the great Indian hero, Tipu Sultan.

Built in 1790, it is an architecture marvel with elaborate art work and floral motifs. The prayer hall of the Jumma Masjid stands on an elevated ground and stands adorned with soaring, ornate granite pillars. There are magnificent twin minarets inside the masjid that stretch upto the spherical domes above the balconies. These minarets have been ornamented with a graceful assembly of a large number of pigeon holes.

During the festive season, the minars as well as the entire building of the masjid is beautifully decorated with lights.
