Visa Application Process

The procedure is quite simple whereas all the tourists has to be filled the Maldives Tourist form given at the immigration counter with utmost care and can be submitted to the immigration official along with a set of legal documents as demanded by the government procedure. This is followed by a short interview where some questions are asked by the Immigration officer. After that you will be granted a Tourist Visa that allows you to explore all the tourist places in Maldives. This single entry visa allows you stay in the Maldives for 30 days and can be extend for another 60 day period. This visa is free for all Indian nationals.

Visa Requirements

Indians tourists who want to get Maldives tourist visa need to submit some legal documents as demanded by the government procedure along with an appropriately signed and completed tourist form.

Here is the list of documents required to submit to get Maldives Tourist Visa.

  • Passport must be valid for at least 6 months post the date of your journey
  • Confirmed reservation of the Hotel / Tourist Resort
  • Confirmed onward / return flight tickets
  • Valid onward country Visa
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the intended period of stay in Maldives (minimum of USD 150 per day)
  • Two recent coloured photographs of size 35mm x 44mm and should be absolutely clear

Validity & Extension of Visa

The tourist visa issued on arrival at Male Airport allows you to stay in the Maldives for 30 days. The 30 days is not for the passenger to claim, but lies at the decision of the Immigration to grant any number of days less than or equal to 30. The period of stay granted is shown on the endorsement given on the passport. All passengers entitle on Tourist Visa are not permitted to engage in any form of business, occupation, profession or paid employment while in Maldives. This is a single entry visa.

If you wish to extend your trip and stay a bit longer in Maldives, then you can apply for the extension of your Tourist Visa before the expiry of the visa already granted. An extension can only be applied at the Head Office by fill out the Visa Extension Application Form and pay the applicable fee. Before the extension, Immigration officials will examine your financial position for the stay period of the extension and grant you a maximum extension of 60 more days. Make sure that you complete the procedure of filling the renewal application at least two days before your visa expires. Tourist visa issued on arrival for 30 days’ time is absolutely free of charge, but a fee of INR 3350 (or MVR 750) is to be paid in case of extension of tourist visa for more than 30 days or a total duration of 90 days.
