Doddabale Siddaragudda Peak / Shivgiri Trails - History, Timings & Entry Fee

At a distance of 14 km from Birur, 53 km from Chikmagalur, and 63 km from Shimoga, Doddabale Siddaragudda Peak is a stunning hill located near Hoggrekhangiri, Chikmagalur. It is one of the secluded places for trekking near Bangalore, and among the must-include places in Chikmagalur - Coorg packages.

Doddabale Siddaragudda Peak is situated at an altitude of about 5,500 feet and is the highest point in Doddabale. Shivgiri is a good location for trekking, wildlife enthusiasts, or those who just want to get away from the noise of the city and relax in a serene environment. Shivgiri has a dense forest cover situated near Yemmedoddi village in Hoggarekangri hills. Shivgiri is a place for bird-watching.

As you climb up the mountain, you will walk through the coffee plantations which makes the trip more exciting. Once you reach the top, you will come across an ancient Shiva temple, which is around 800 years old. During climbing, tourists can also see pugmarks and animal droppings and are advised to take a guide along with them on the journey. From the peak, tourists can see a beautiful and remarkable view of Lakeville Dam, Baba Budangiri Hills, Bhadra Lake, and Yemmedoddi Village from this peak. The place also offers one of the most serene settings to catch the sunset as well as sunrise. One can also visit Madagadakere Lake near Yemmedoddi, which according to folklore is said to be filled with magic rain.
